The S&P 500 and the Dow rose yesterday to close at record highs, posting a third straight weekly rise. The gains in the US stocks came mainly due to rise in growth stocks. The indices logged gains ahead of quarterly earnings season next week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.9 percent, The S&P 500 surged 0.8 percent and the Nasdaq Composite index gained half percent.
