In Kerala, a Fast Track Court in Thrissur today awarded death penalty to Govindachamy in connection with the sensational Sowmya murder case.Sowmya was pushed out of the ladies compartment of a running passenger train by Govindachamy who raped her near Vallathol Nagar Railway station in Thrissur district on February 1. She had succumbed to her injuries later at the hospital.The Fast Track Court judge Ravindra Babu also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees on Govindachamy, who hails from Tamil Nadu. The Court termed the accused as a habitual offender and a threat to women in society.
