Around 377 lakh hectare area have been covered under the cultivation of Rice so far as the sowing of rice is picking up in various parts of the country. According to a data released by the Agriculture Ministry, the acerage shows an increase of 33.55 lakh hectare over last year’s acreage on this date.

Higher area coverage has been reported from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. The release also said that Coarse cereals have been sown in over 196 lakh hectare area and the higher area coverage has been reported from Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
