Southwest monsoon arrives in Maharashtra: IMD

India Meteorological Department,IMD said the southwest monsoon has arrived in Maharashtra today, bringing showers in some coastal parts of the state. IMD regional centre's director Shubhangi Bhute, said the monsoon is progressing as expected.<br />''<br />'' She said it has officially reached Harnai port in coastal Ratnagiri district and its actual line is spread till Solapur and some parts of Marathwada, followed by some parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. <br />''<br />''It is expected to bring showers to these regions, she added.<br />''<span style="color: #222222;"><br />''IMD regional's director said, conditions are favourable for further advancement of the monsoon.</span><br />

<span style="color: #222222;">The India Meteorological Department has announced that southwest monsoon has arrived in Maharashtra. IMD, Mumbai's Deputy Director General K S Hosalikar informed that the onset line is passing over Harnai in Solapur, Ramagundum in Telangana and Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh.</span><br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">With heavy showers lashing some coastal parts of the state, the IMD has said that conditions are favourable for further advancement in some more parts of Maharashtra in next 48 hours. <br />''<br />''Issuing warning of heavy rainfall in some parts of Marathwada and Central Maharashtra, the Met Department has said that monsoon is likely to cover all parts except for North Konkan and North Central Maharashtra in coming four to five days.</span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">In the last few days, pre-monsoon showers have hit several parts of the state, including Mumbai and its suburbs.</span><br />''
