Southern states to improve anti-terror coordination

The Directors General of Police of Southern states have decided to have greater coordination and cooperation in tackling left wing extremism, terrorism and other organized crime. This was decided at the third meeting of DsGPs of Southern states held in Hyderabad last evening. According to a release issued by Police department, the DsGP meeting has resolved to convene a meeting of the heads of Intelligence Organisations once in six months for exchanging information and intelligence to tackle Maoists problem. The real time information gathered from time to time about the Maoist extremism, Terrorism and other organized crimes would be shared among the states through a nodal officer who would be appointed soon by each state. The southern states also decided to seek information of Malda gangs from west Bengal government as the gangs are involved in the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes in all southern states and various other places in the North. The meeting has further decided to request Central Home Ministry to review the Coastal Security scheme and allocate the duty of patrolling shallow waters to the Coast Guard. Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have agreed to share their best practices in several areas including police welfare, promotions, health schemes and training.
