In Karnataka, South Western Railway (SWR) distributed 2.26 lakh meals to the poor, daily wage earners and migrant workers during the COVID-19 lockdown period. Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hubbali Division of South Western Railway continues to provide hot cooked food to the needy people through base kitchens of IRCTC with the help of Railway Protection Force, Departments staffs and NGOs. Apart from this, the Railway also distributing groceries to the migrant workers.<br />'' <br />'' AIR Bengaluru correspondent reports that during the COVID -19 lockdown period, Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway has taken the lead in providing food to the needy migrant workers by serving 1, 63,000 meals of which 54,000 meals were prepared by IRCTC. The division packed meals were distributed to the migrant workers at Bengaluru, Yeshvantpur, Bangaluru Cantt, Baiyappanahalli, Bangarpet, Dharmapuri, Mandya, Tumkur, Krishanarajapuram, Yalhanka and Whitefield Stations. <br />'' <br />'' Railway staff and their families are strictly following the Lockdown and staff working for essential services are maintaining social distancing and being provided with face masks and sanitizer to protect themselves  from COVID-19 virus. <br />''  <br />
