The south-west monsoon today revived over northern parts of the country with most parts of the region lashed by torrential rains. According to MET Office,heavy rains drenched parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh while Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan received moderate rainfall. The monsoon rain drenched the national capital after a gap of five days with the city receiving a total of 42.6 mm of rains from last night. With this the capital has received 212.6 mm of rains in the past 15 days after. The rains also brought the mercury down to a comfortable 30 degree Celsius, five degrees below normal, while the minimum was recorded at 25.6 degree Celsius, one degree below normal. The humidity was at a high of 98 per cent while the minimum was at 79 per cent. Weathermen says, widespread rains also lashed Punjab and Haryana, where many parts are still battling the recent fury of floods.Narnaul in Haryana received 115 mm rainfall followed by Sonepat 95 mm, Rewari 78 mm, Karnal 58.4 mm and Fatehabad 47 mm of rains.In Punjab, Patiala and Mansa, worst-hit by the floods,received 43.2 mm and 40 mm of rains. However, in Rajasthan drinking water problem persisted in several rural areas with the monsoon remaining weak though some parts of the state received showers.
