In Rajasthan, the south-west monsoon entered the state following which unprecedented rainfall was recorded at many places in south-eastern and eastern parts of the state. Highest 36 centimeters of rainfall was recorded in Chabbra town of Baran district. Baran city received 30 cms. rainfall during the last two days. Many low lying areas in the city were inundated, throwing normal life out of gear. Heavy rainfall was also recorded at many places in Kota, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh. Bundi and Bhilwara districts. According to Met office, rainfall between 5 to 12 cms. was recorded at more than a dozen places in these districts. Meanwhile, at least five persons have lost their lives in rain related incidents across the state. The monsoon has brought much needed respite from scorching heat and humidity to the people of Rajasthan. There is a smile on the faces of farmers who have started preparations for the kharif crops.
