South west monsoon finally hit the city of Mumbai yesterday with heavy rains hitting the finacial capital. The MET Department predicts high tides to hit the city even as other parts of Maharastra also witnessed heavy rains.<br/><br/>The monsoon has advanced further in Chattisgarh and West Bengal. Entire Andhra Pradesh has been covered by the monsoon with rains occuring over coastal areas of the state.Heavy rains also occurred at many places in Konkan and Goa, Orissa, Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim.<br/><br/>The Met department predicts fairly widespread rains over interior Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu and north eastern states. In Orissa, the south-west monsoon has covered most of the areas. Many parts of the state experienced medium to heavy rainfall due to the monsoon during last 48 hours.<br/><br/>Mercury levels came down in northern parts of the country with several areas receiving showers and the advancing South West monsoon is likely to hit Rajasthan and adjoining areas by next week.
