South-west monsoon is making a smooth progress with Konkan and Goa, areas of coastal Karnataka and Kerala receiving widespread rainfall in past 24 hours. It is likely to remain active in southern peninsula for next two weeks. Conditions are favourable for further advance of the monsoon to central Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and north eastern states. The MeT Department has predicted the arrival of monsoon in central and eastern parts of the country by 24th of this month.
