South Asian Speakers decide to form joint Parliamentry groups for achieving sustainable Development Goals

The South Asian Speakers Summit decided to form joint Parliamentry groups for achieving sustainable Development Goals. On the first day of the summit speakers of six countries deliberated on ways to achieve sustainable development goals. Earlier Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, along with dignitaries of South Asian countries yesterday inaugurated the summit in Indore.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, the Parliament of India and Inter Parliamentary Union are jointly organising the event. The South Asian Speakers' Summit will explore the possibility of setting up joint parliamentary groups and these can look at women and child development and job creation. <br/><br/>Presiding officers of South Asian Nations, specially Afganistan came down heavily on Pakistan for sponsoring terrorism in the region. Inter Parliamentry Union also express its displeasure on the absence of Pakistan at the summit. Today the speakers would discuss on climate change and natural disaster to prepare the final draft of the 'Indore -Declaration'.
