Ahead of the upcoming South Asian Games, a mini marathon run for North East and Torch Relay was held today in Guwahati. Union Sports Minister Sarbanand Sonowal along with several former players as well as other dignitaries attended the program. Mr. Sonowal said that preparations of the event are going on very satisfactorily. Thousands of students and athletics participated in the run from Sonaram high school field to the Nehru Stadium. Our Correspondent reports that cultural programs have also been organized at Nehru Stadium on this occasion. The 12th South Asian Games will be held from 5th of February in Guwahati and Shillong. Nearly 5 thousand players and officials of eight countries are likely to take part in event.
