The 5th South Asian Film Festival, SAFF Goa 2010 – an initiative of South Asian Foundation with the support of Government of Goa, ICCR, ESG and Kala Academy, Goa was inaugurated at Panaji by the Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat on Friday. The theme of the four-day festival is dissolving boundaries. Prominent film makers and others were present. Speaking on the occasion, Kamat said the State Government wanted to develop Goa as the destination of various festivals and hoped that with the SAFF festival will become popular not only in the state but the entire country. He said SAFF spreads the message of peace and harmony through the films. Prominent film makers and actors from all South Asian countries, representatives of Indian film fraternity are attending the festival. Assamese directors Bhupendra Kaman and Hiren Bora are also attending the festival.The inauguration of the festival was followed by an enthralling contemporary dance performance by noted Kathak dance exponent Sharmista Mukherjee and her group. An inspiring painting exhibition by Simran Lamba, a young film maker and painter, and Tabassum Perween, an Ahmedabad post-graduate student, gave art lovers a treat to watch. Over 50 films will be screened at the festival from the South Asian Countries. The focus country is Afghanistan for SAFF Goa-2010.

South Asian Film Fest kick starts in Goa
