South Africa win Kanpur One-Dayer against India by 5 runs

In cricket, South Africa won the first ODI match against India by 5 runs in Kanpur today. In reply to South Africa's 303, India scored 298 losing seven wickets. Rohit Sharma's 150 off 133 balls went in vain as the visitors held nerve to clinch victory in the opening game of the five-match ODI series. This was Sharma's 8th ODI century. Ajinkya Rahane scored 60 while Mahendra Singh Dhoni made 31 runs.On a slow Kanpur wicket, India were on track with Rohit Sharma-Ajinkya Rahane stand before Rahane was dismissed for 60. New man in Virat Kohli too did not last long and South Africa fought their way back with some tight overs. Towards the fag end,South Africa got their act right and hurt hosts with wickets at regular intervals.Earlier, with a spectacular unbeaten 104 runs by captain A B de Villiers, South Africa finished their innings at 303 for 5 in stipulated 50 overs, after a slow start of their innings after winning the toss. Faf du Plessis supported the skipper with a handy 62 runs. For India, spinner Amit Mishra picked 2 wickets.
