South Africa have launched their cricket World Cup campaign with a comfortable seven-wicket win over West Indies. In a Group-B Day-Night league match at Feroze Shah Kotla in New Delhi yesterday, the South Africans first restricted the Caribbeans to 222 all out in 47.3 overs. Darren Bravo was the top scorer with 73. Later, chasing the target of 223, the Proteas rattled up the runs with 43 balls to spare. For the winners, AB de Villiers smashed an unbeaten 107 which was his 10th ODI ton. Earlier in the West Indian innings, the 31-year-old Pakistan-born Imran Tahir made a memorable World Cup debut to claim four key wickets in his ten overs. Paceman Dale Steyn was the other successful bowler with 3 for 24. In Group B, India, England and South Africa have two points each. Two matches are scheduled in the World Cup today. In the Day Fixture at the Vidarbha Cricket Association ground in Nagpur, Australia will meet New Zealand in Group 'A'. All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the match. The commentary can be heard on Rajdhani Channel and FM Gold from 9 A.M. onwards. In the other match, which will be a Day-Night encounter, co-hosts Bangladesh will face Ireland at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
