South Africa 269 for six against India on opening day of Centurion Test

In the second Cricket Test against India at Centurion, South Africa were 269 for Six in their first innings on the opening day on Saturday. The visitors effected a dramatic turnaround by taking three wickets for five runs in the last hour to reduce South Africa to 269.Electing to bat after winning the toss, the hosts made a good start with an opening partnership of 85 runs. The notable scorers on Saturday were opener Aiden Markram who made 94 and Hashim Amla who was run out for 82. At the end of day's play, captain Faf du Plessis was unbeaten on 24 runs while Keshav Maharaj was batting on 10.For India, on a day when the Indian pacers failed to make much of a dent on an easy-paced wicket, spinner Ravinchandran Ashwin emerged as the most successful bowler as he took the crucial wicket of Markram who was batting on 94, along with Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock.Pacer Ishant Sharma accounted for the other dismissal. There were two run outs in the innings.South Africa lead the three-Test series One-nil, after winning the first match played at Cape Town by 72 runs.
