Soumyajit Ghosh, Harmeet Desai bow out of Japan Open table-tennis tournament

The Indian pair of Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai has bowed out of the Japan Open table-tennis tournament. At the Yokohama Cultural Gymnasium today, the pair lost their men's doubles quarterfinal match to local pair of Jin Ueda and Maharu Yoshimura in three straight sets 6-11 6-11 9-11.Ghosh and Desai had earlier become first Indian pair to reach the last-eight stage of a super series event.In the men's singles, Achantha Sharath Kamal crashed out of the competition after suffering a 0-4 defeat at the hands of Liqin Wang who is world number nine from China. Sharath Kamal also lost the pre-quarterfinal final encounter, thereby drawing curtains on India's challenge in the competition.
