Congress President Sonia Gandhi handed over a cheque of 5 lakhs rupees in Raebareli today to Sudha Singh Asian Gold Medal winner in woman 3000 metre steeplechase event. The amount has been given from local unit of India Telephone Industries. Congratulating her, Sonia Gandhi told her that country has a lot of expectations from her for Olympic events too. She Congress President assured her to start a centre of Gwalior Luxmi Bai National Physical Education Centre at Raebereli also.She also chaired meeting of District Monitoring Committee to review the developmental works in the district. She expressed her displeasure over poor condition of roads and irregularities in the implementation of centre sponsored welfare schemes. Later, she left for Delhi this afternoon after her three day tour of Raebareli.
