Congress leader Sonia Gandhi today urged the government to ensure adequate nutrition for children. Mrs Gandhi raised the issue pertaining to nutrition among children in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. She said while the Supreme Court and the National Food Security Act have ensured supply of uncooked essentials, it is imperative to understand that children must be provided with nutritious cooked food.<br />''<br />''Raising the matter in the Lok Sabha, Mrs Gandhi urged the government to restart mid-day meals for students in the reopening government schools.<br />''<br />''She said the government must ensure children are provided with hot and cooked food through the ICDS scheme. She added the government must consider endowing additional allocation for facilitating meals for children.<br />''<br />''The Congress leader said the government with the help of Anganvadi network work towards ensuring nutritional needs of children below three years as well as pregnant and lactating women.<br />
