The UPA Chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi will inaugurate 31 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas on the International Literacy Day today. The schools will be opened across the country as part of the government’s efforts to increase access to quality education. The central role of literacy in the empowerment of women is theme for this year’s Literacy Day. In his message on the occasion, UN Secretary General Ban Ki moon has urged governments, donors, non-governmental organizations to make literacy accessible to women everywhere.
