The Congress legislative party has authorised the Congress President, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi to take a decision regarding the selection of the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. This decision was taken in a meeting of the Congress legislative party held in Mumbai on Tuesday night. The Union Finance Minister, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee and the Defence Minister and in-charge of the Maharashtra Congress, Mr. A.K Antony participated in this meeting as the Congress party’s central observers.
