Sonia Gandhi ?launches congress poll campaign in Varanasi

In Uttar Pradesh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi ?today ?launched her party's campaign with a show of strength in Varanasi, ?the ?parliamentary constituency? of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.? This is the third major programme of the party in Uttar Pradesh in recent days after "27 saal-UP behal" Delhi-Kanpur bus yatra and Rahul Gandhi's interactive session with booth level workers in Lucknow.? <br/><br/>Thousands of Congress supporters and workers took part in the roadshow from the Circuit House to Englishiya Line, a distance of about eight kilometres.? Besides the party's chief ministerial candidate Sheila Dikshit, AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, state party chief Raj Babbar and senior leaders Pramod Tiwari and Sanjay Singh accompanied Mrs Gandhi.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that Sonia launched her party's campaign for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election with a massive road show.? People in large numbers came out in the narrow streets of Varanasi at Pilikothi, Maldahiya, Kabirchaura, Chaukaghat and at every place Sonia's cavalcade passed through.? She came out of her vehicle several times to accept the greetings of the cheering supporters. Whereas downplaying the Congress roadshow, state BJP chief KP Maurya said that ?Uttar Pradesh is already Congress-free and now no road show will help it.
