Sonia Gandhi files nomination from Rae Bareli; Says, Congress is not polarising votes

Congress President Sonia Gandhi filed her nomination papers from the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh today. She was accompanied by party's Vice President and her son, Rahul Gandhi while presenting her papers before the Returning Officer.

AIR Correspondent reports that she filed three sets of nomination papers. After filing of her papers, Sonia told media persons that she has special bonding with Rae Bareli people. 67-year old Sonia Gandhi is seeking re-election from Rae Bareli for the fourth time.

BJP has fielded Supreme Court lawyer Ajay Aggarwal in Rae Bareli while SP has decided not to field anyone against her and Rahul.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi today rejected suggestions that her party was engaged in a game of polarisation of votes ahead of the general elections. When asked by reporters about her meeting with Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari in Delhi yesterday, Mrs Gandhi said that Congress is not involved in the game of polarisation of votes.
