Sonia asks States to cooperate with Centre for comprehensive development

UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi has called upon State governments to cooperate with the Centre for comprehensive development of the country. Addressing a function organised to flag off 12 new trains at Kanpur on Sunday, Mrs Gandhi said that the UPA government is committed for the development of the country and has provided sufficient financial assistance to the state governments for the purpose. She said that politics must not come in the way of development.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that the production in ambitious Rail Coach Factory at Raebareli will begin from next financial year.<br/><br/>She also announced that multi-purpose complex would be constructed at the railway stations of Raebareli, Ayodhya, Allahabad and Jhansi, while more than 15 stations would be converted as Model stations.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that Indian Railways on Monday created a sort of record when 12 pairs of new trains were flagged off and destinations of seven others were extended.
