Expressing concern over the mushrooming of media schools, the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mrs. Ambika Soni today said that her Ministry is in the process of constituting a committee to review the mushrooming of media training institutes across the country.

Mrs. Soni said this while giving away the Seema Nazreth Award for Journalistic Excellence to Ms. Indulekha Arvind at a function in New Delhi today. Mrs. Soni said that the committee would comprise of key stakeholders associated with the issue. On the issue of freedom of press, the Minister expressed confidence that the ongoing debate on the issue of regulation and self-regulation in the electronic and print media will help to build a consensus and a new perspective on this issue.
