The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mrs. Ambika Soni has said there are as many as 14,000 vacancies in Prasar Bharati. Of these vacancies 3500 will be filled this year. Mrs. Soni told this to reporters at Thiruvananthapuram yesterday after GoM meeting. She said an online media policy is on the anvil.

She disclosed that the Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal has constituted a Committee of eminent people to look into the matter. Regarding the Kottayam branch of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, IIMC, she said, classes will commence there from April next year. The Kerala Government has allocated land for setting up the IIMC.
