Some highways including Chardham yatra route affected due to heavy rains

In Uttarakhand, some highways including Chardham yatra route have been affected due to heavy rains which have triggered a series of landslides at various places. The Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre have issued an alert on the basis of the warning of heavy rain in the state by the met department. Meanwhile, Chief Minister has expressed profound grief on the unfortunate disaster that took place in Bageshwar yesterday and declared two-day mourning in the state. Schools have also been declared to be closed for the next three days from today.AIR Correspondent reports, heavy rain continued to wreak havoc in Uttarakhand killing one more person in Nainital and flattening at least dozen of houses in the state.Meanwhile the water level of most of the rivers is rising. Panic-stricken people were leaving some of the disaster-prone villages particularly in the hilly Bageshwar and Rudraprayag districts. The meteorological office has said that heavy rains may continue at some places during next 24 hours. Meanwhile, Nainital recorded 221 milimetre of rainfall, followed by Dehradun at 142 milimitre.
