Somdev wins men's singles gold in Asiad; India stands at 8th position

In the 16th Asian Games on Tuesday, India won One Gold and two bronze medals. India maintained their 8th spot on the 11th day of competitions with a haul of 7 gold, 12 silver and 20 bronze. Somdev Devvarman created history by becoming the first Indian to win a gold in the men's singles tennis event of the Asian Games. Somdev upset top seed and world number 44 Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan 6-1 6-2 in the lop-sided summit clash to achieve the historic feat.
