India's Somdev Devvarman has crashed out of the US Open Tennis tournament, taking place at the Flushing Meadows, Corona Park in Queens, New York. In the Men's Singles opening round match, Somdev lost to Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo of Spain, 3-6, 2-6, 6-3, 4-6. Somdev was the lone Indian in the Singles section. Later in the tournament, India will be seen in action in the Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories.Meanwhile, in the Men's Singles, World Number One Roger Federer of Switzerland, third seeded Briton Andy Murray and Marin Cilic of Croatia have advanced into the second round. In the Women's Singles section, Belarus' top seed Victoria Azarenka, third seeded Russian Maria Sharapova and Czech Petra Kvitova also made it to the second round.Later tonight, World Number two Novak Djokovic of Serbia, Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland and the Williams sisters – Serena and Venus – will play their opening round matches.
