At Johannesburg, the Indian ace recorded a straight-set win over Raven Klaasen of the host country in his opening match. Somdev won 6-4 6-3 in one hour and 23 minutes. In the 442,500 U.S. dollar event, Somdev's next opponent could be third seed Serb Janko Tipsarevic. The Serbian faces Jesse Huta of the Netherlands in his first round match.
