In Somalia, at least seven people were killed and 35 wounded on Monday in a suicide car bomb attack that targeted a government police station in the capital Mogadishu. According to witnesses, the huge blast from the vehicle laden with explosives caused extensive damage to the government police building and surrounding houses in the vicinity. They said charred human body parts were strewn all around the scene of the explosion. Police said the vehicle, a small truck, was disguised as a civilian transport vehicle and was loaded with oil barrels. The explosives-laden truck forcibly crashed into the police check point before it detonated sending shrapnel and wreckage all around the area and causing at least two other vehicles to burn. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. The Islamist group of al Shabaab which wages deadly insurgent against the Somali government often carried similar attacks in Somalia.
