Somali pirates have released a Liberian-owned ship with 21 Filipino crew on board. A regional maritime official on Monday said, the Voc Daisy was hijacked on April 21 in the Gulf of Aden. Andrew Mwangura said, the ship was freed by the pirates on Sunday and it was not yet established whether ransom was paid to secure its release. At the time of the attack, the ship operated by the Greek company Samartzis Maritime Enterprises, was heading west from Ruwais, UAE.
