European Union naval officials say Somali pirates have hijacked a Singapore-flagged container ship named Kota Wajar.
A statement posted on the website of the European Union anti-piracy force says the Kota Wajar was seized early on Thursday in the Indian Ocean about 480 kilometers north of the Seychelles islands.
It was not immediately clear how many crew were onboard or what their nationalities were.
