Somali pirates have hijacked a Malta flagged ship in the eastern part of the Gulf of Aden. A US warship deployed in the region has been able to identify two pirates on board the hijacked ship OLIB G with a crew of 18. The pirated ship was sailing west in the internationally recommended transit corridor through the Gulf of Aden with a cargo of ballast. An EU anti-piracy mission is monitoring the situation.
