Rohinton F Nariman today resigned as the Solicitor General of India. The reason behind his resignation is not known yet.

Mr. Nariman was appointed as the Solicitor General by the government in July 2011 after Gopal Subramaniam quit the post.

The Solicitor General is the second-most important legal officer in the government after the Attorney General.
