Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam has left New Delhi for the United States as part of India's efforts to get access to Lashkar-e-Toiba operative David Coleman Headley involved in the 26/11 Mumbai Terror attacks. David Headley has pleaded guilty before a US court to charges of plotting Mumbai terror attack in November 2008.<br/><br/>Gopal Subramaniam will discuss legal modalities with officials of the US Justice Department and explore all avenues open to India for getting access to Lashkar operative.<br/><br/> Prime Minister Mannohan Singh raised the Headley issue with President Barack Obama during his visit to US last week.The issue was also discussed when National Security Adviser Shvishankar Menon met his US counterpart James Jones subsequently.<br/><br/> India seems to have got very high-level assurances from the US Government that it will get access to the Pakistani-American terrorist. <br/><br/>Ahead of Solicitor General's visit, the US Ambassador in India Timothy J. Romer assured that US is working at the highest level to provide India access to Headley.
