The CBI today filed a charge sheet against the Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah after he failed to appear before the agency in connection with the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case. The CBI has booked Amit Shah for murder, criminal conspiracy and destroying evidences in the fake encounter case. Earlier, CBI had sent three teams to various places to find Minister of State for Home Amit Shah, a close aide of Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The deadline to appear before the CBI for Amit Shah had expired at 1 pm today.Quoting sources, our Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that one team of CBI has also questioned the personal Secretary of Shah at State Secretariat to know the whereabouts of the accused. Earlier in the day, the CBI turned down Shah's request for more time to appear before it. Shah’s lawyer also asked for the list of questions to be put up before Shah which was rejected by the investigating agency. Our correspondent reports that a special CBI court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Mr. Amit Shah.The BJP today accused the government of misusing the CBI to harass the Opposition. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi today, senior party leader Sushma Swaraj alleged that the summons by the CBI to question Mr. Amit Shah is the latest in the series of cases of misuse of the CBI. Mr. Arun Jaitely who also addressed the press, alleged that the government has misused the CBI to time the summons in a manner that will be politically convenient to the ruling UPA.The Congress today made a scathing attack on the BJP leadership for trying to influence and subvert the Supreme Court initiated CBI investigations into the Sohrabuddin encounter case .Party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that this was unconstitutional, indefensible and completely unjustifiable. He also described the BJP press conference on the issue as not just a blatent attempt to pressurise the investigators but an attempt to create an arc of immunity for the accused Gujarat minister of state for home Amit Shah and chief minister Narendra Modi. He also said that the linking of the on going investigations involving the killing of three human beings with Prime Minister's invitation tp lunch is gravely irresponsible.
