Society should not discriminate with the people infected with AIDS, said Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel as the Chief Guest while attending the National World Aids Day programme organised by the Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) in Guwahati  (1st December 2023).<br />'' <br />'' Addressing at the event, Mr. Baghel said that there is a decreasing trend of new infection rates of AIDS in the country and at present there are around 17.5 lakh AIDS infected persons in the whole nation.<br />'' <br />'' The MoS informed that under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, budgetary allocation has been increased for the treatment and control of AIDS.<br />'' <br />'' World AIDS Day programme was organised at Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium on the theme 'Let Communities Lead' by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS).<br />'' <br />'' As part of the programme, a blood donation camp along with an exhibition was conducted comprising of stalls exhibiting the contact, treatment procedure of HIV/AIDS and other medical threats associated with AIDS such as TB and Hepatitis.<br />'' <br />''Keshab Mahanta, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Govt. Of Assam and David Bridger, UNAIDS Country Director, India, Nidhi Kesarwani, Director, NACO, Dr Indranoshee Das, Project Director, ASACS, Dr Siddhart Singh among others were present at the programme.
