Noted socialist leader and former Member of Parliament Dr. Bapusaheb Kaldate died of a heart attack here Mahtma Gandhi Memoral Hospital midnight at Aurangabad, Maharashtra today. He was 82 year old.
Dr. Kaldate was born at Beed district on 1st December 1929. Social worker to the core, Dr. Kaldate participated in the Quit India Movement of 1942 and was imprisoned six times while participating in different agitations pertaining to prices, farmers’ demands and Integrated Maharashtra Movement.
He was elected to Rajya Sabha in April 1984 and re-elected in April 1990. He was vice President of Janta Dal Secular.
Dr. Kaldate was elected to Maharashtra legislative Assembly from Latur in 1967.
He was also elected the Member of Parliament of Aurangbad Lok Sabha constituency in 1977.
