Chief executive officer of Prasar Bharati Jawhar Sircar has said that media has played an important role in bringing transformation in various parts of the world. Delivering Leela Prism Series lecture in New Delhi this evening, Mr Sircar said, media particularly the social media, has brought awareness and mobilisation in the masses which has brought transformation in government and governance. He said transformation has brought tools like RTI which has made the governance effective and has brought down corruption. Mr Sircar said due to media activism cases like Jessica lal were opened and the guilty was punished.
