Vice President Hamid Ansari said that library has to work as equaliser to provide larger participation of society in knowledge driven goal. Inaugurating a national convention at Tezpur University in Assam today, he said that library could also play a role in narrowing gap between rich and poor. Mr.Ansari said that social media has become more important in people's learning strategy. <br/><br/>He stressed that library must play pro active role in information dissemination. The three day convention is being jointly organized by Tezpur University and DELNET. <br/><br/>DELNET is one of the major resource sharing library network connecting over 5600 libraries in India and 8 other countries.The convention will discuss host of issues on the development of smart libraries and librarians.The convention will also discuss on how to introduce modern technologies among libraries in North East. An exhibition showcasing various library technology related products has also been organized .
