President Pranab Mukherjee today said social justice is most important in the development process of a developing country. He said political freedom, political justice and political liberation are nothing unless there is social justice.<br/><br/>He was addressing the gathering after giving away Dr Ambedkar National Award for Social understanding and Upliftment of Weaker Sections in New Delhi.<br/><br/>Mr Mukherjee said Dr B R Ambedkar dreamt of an India where every one enjoys the fruits of development equally. He lauded Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry for encouraging people and organisations to provide justice, equality and liberty among the downtrodden sections of society.<br/><br/>The award was instituted by the government in 1992. It is given for outstanding contribution to the promotion of social understanding and for the upliftment of the weaker sections of society. One award each year is presented to individuals or organizations and is presented jointly or shared by more than one recipient or organization as may be considered by the Jury. It consists of a citation and 10 lakh rupees as cash prize.
