In the Rajya Sabha, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot has dismissed opposition allegations that the NDA government is anti-reservations. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, a number of times, assured that the Central reservations for Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will continue. <br/><br/>Mr Gehlot described as historic the government's decision to give Constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes. He said this was pending for a long time. Not satisfied with the response by the Minister during Zero Hour, Samajwadi Party members trooped into the well of the House raising slogans. This forced Deputy Chairman P J Kurien to adjourn the house for ten minutes. The issue was raised by Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party.
