The father of the woman in Snoopgate involving BJP leader Narendra Modi, has moved the Supreme Court for quashing of all probe in the matter. The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Centre and Gujarat government seeking their rseponse and has posted the matter for hearing on Friday. The woman and her father have also sought the apex court's direction to restrain media from publishing and broadcasting news on Snoopgate.
In a petition, the woman and her father have reportedly said that they were thankful to the Gujarat government for taking steps on their personal request. They said, these were safety measures, not only within their knowledge but fully justified. The woman who is now married, also argued that any investigation would be a violation of her privacy.
Earlier today, Union Minister Kapil Sibal confirmed that the government had stopped looking for a judge to head an inquiry into whether Mr Modi had ordered excessive surveillance on the woman in 2009.
