Smriti Irani to be chief guest of Award ceremony of National Yoga Olympiad

Union Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani will be the chief guest of Award ceremony of National Yoga Olympiad in New Delhi today. Minister of State of AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik will also attend the ceremony. AIR correspondent reports that the three-day Yoga Olympiad for all government and government-aided schools students concluded yesterday.<br/><br/>The first ever Yoga Olympiad was organized by the NCERT ahead of the International Yoga Day. Children, from renowned institutions of Yoga, around 21 states, showcased their talent. A total of 321 students along with their 79 teachers participated in the event. Interestingly, the participation of girls outnumbered boys. <br/><br/>Teams were divided into four categories – Upper Primary Girls, Upper Primary Boys, Secondary Girls and Secondary Boys. Children performed various pranayams, kriyas and mudrasanas. Students were also given opportunity to perform Suryanamasakar on their own choice. The initial spirit of competition which emerged among participants, in the end gave way to a spirit of camaraderie and cooperation.
