Smriti Irani seeks inputs to boost handicrafts exports

Textile Minister Smriti Irani has sought inputs for ensuring rapid growth of Indian handicrafts exports to penetrate the world market and the measures needed to provide impetus to the sector. Ms Irani chaired a meeting of stakeholders belonging to the handicrafts industry in New Delhi today. In a tweet, she said, inputs were sought from MPs, experts and artisans on giving impetus and ensuring rapid growth of handicrafts in world market.<br/><br/>India's handicrafts exports during the year 2015-16 were 21,458 crore rupees with an increase of 6.85 per cent over the previous year. During the first six months of current financial year, exports to the tune of 13,005 crore rupees have been achieved.
