The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) says the unusually thick smog over the national capital and its suburbs since early this morning is a normal winter phenomenon and not fallout of the Jaipur oil depot fire as perceived by many. The Board said, preliminary observations suggest that it is a normal routine winter phenomenon witnessed in the capital every year during this season. Since the wee hours, a haze engulfed the city making even the afternoon look like a bleary morning with people calling the doctors and experts to enquire if it was a fallout of the massive Jaipur IOC depot fire which erupted on October 29 and went on for several days. Indian Meteorological Department director, S C Bhan shared the same observations stating that the weather was witnessing highly stable condition due to which pollutants particles are trapped in the lower level.
