SM Krishna, Abdulla meet tomorrow to get update on Maldives

India will get a fresh update on the situation in Maldives when Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdul Samad Abdulla meets his Indian counterpart in New Delhi tomorrow. The island nation has witnessed political turmoil for the past couple of months.

Official Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs, Syed Akbaruddin said, Maldives Foreign Minister is arriving in New Delhi on his first visit abroad. He is to meet External Affairs Minister S M Krishna for talks.

AIR correspondent reports that Maldives plunged into political turmoil after 44-year-old Nasheed, the country's first democratically-elected President, resigned on February 7th.

The new regime is headed by Nasheed's former deputy Mohammaed Waheed Hassan. Nasheed had said that he will visit India in the middle of this month and meet various political leaders.
