Slight showers last evening brought the mercury down in the national capital by few degrees. But with no possibility of rain, the hot weather conditions will return. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 42 degree celsius and the minimum will hover around 29 degrees. The MET department predicts heat wave conditions to prevail over the city.<br/> <br/>Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions will also prevail in Punjab, Haryana, North Rajasthan, parts of Jharkahand, Chattisgarh, north Orissa, Vidharbha and isolated pockets of Telengana.<br/> <br/>Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunder squall might occur over Assam and Meghalaya and Arunanchal Pradesh.<br/> <br/>AIR Correspondent reports, Delhites got the much needed respite from the scorching heat last evening when slight rains in Delhi and near by areas brought the mercury down. People could be seen enjoying the evening at India Gate and other places after almost a week long of intense heat. <br/> <br/>However with temperature expected to rise in the coming days, this respite is going to be shortlived. This is the hottest April in Delhi in almost a decade. The maximum temperature touched 52-year-old high on Saturday with the mercury pegged at 43.7 degrees. <br/> <br/>Almost the entire country is reeling under the immense heat wave with the mercury breaking all records.<br/>
