Sri Lanka has rejected the 5,000 metric tonnes of diesel imported by Indian Oil Company's Lanka subsidiary, saying the imported oil was substandard. Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited rejected the diesel imported from Singapore today, pending further tests. Lankan IOC Managing Director, Subodh Dakwale told a news agency that the fuel stock will be returned, and no substandard fuel will be distributed. Earlier, substandard fuel imported by the company had led to an outcry and Ceylon Petroleum Corporation had to pay large compensation to motorists.
